i think we're very sort of dissonant on this point as a society where on the one hand we decry lack of innovation on the other hand in our collective action we do so much to ensure that it doesn't occur right and so you know on the one hand we decry the state of the sort of um medical industrial complex and the eighteen and a half percent of our gdp that i spent on healthcare costs and uh the plateau or even decline in life expectancy and the declining rate of drug discovery and so on and yet on the other hand we sort of uh through regulatory structures make it harder and harder to engage in drug discovery
