Turks are genetically very similar to Syrians and Greeks, not to Mongolians (their Central Asian origins are ~5-7% of the population at most). Turks are Canaanite/Syrian/Armenian converts to Islam and Turkish language. The linguistic/religious shift was rapid (minority rule); genetic composition remained continuous.
